APS News

APS is officially 'World Class'

I am delighted to write to you about the fantastic news that we have been recognised for what we already know about APS - that we are 'World Class'.

The World Class Schools Quality Mark (WCSQM) has named Alexandra Park School to have successfully completed the accreditation process to be awarded the status 'World Class'.

WCSQM has awarded the mark to 18 state secondary schools from around the country. We have demonstrated that we far exceed the highest Ofsted inspection grade, and have successfully undertaken the rigorous WCSQM assessment process to demonstrate that we are a class apart.

The WCSQM process required us to provide students capable of compiling comprehensive evidence in support of our application. APS had to exceed a challenging threshold in Key Stage 4 performance before being invited to participate.  APS students then developed a compelling case for approval through detailed auditing of the school's capabilities, video submissions in support of our application, and participation in an assessment centre event, at which student performances were assessed against a rigorous framework.

Announcing the awards, Miranda Perry, co-director of WCSQM said:

The Mark is about recognising how well the top secondary schools in the country prepare their students to thrive in the 21st century. We are confident that our awarded schools provide their students with the best life chances possible.

The official award ceremony took place on 12th November in central London, with Professor John Mullan, head of English at University College London officiating.  Khanyiso Mtwana, Sam Redfearn and Filmon Simon received the award on behalf of our school community.

Congratulations to us all!!
