Dear Parents, Carers and Students
It can be a double edged sword being the Headteacher of a successful school. There are always so many activities occurring and so few evenings to fit them all in.
In the time since our last newsletter, I have welcomed students from China, Denmark, Greece and Poland and tomorrow, we welcome Swiss students. I have participated in a social evening for Year 7 parents, joined Year 11 families for an exam seminar and opened our school to 900+ potential sixth formers and their families. These are just a few of the activities I’ve attended. It’s a busy place and I spend many, many evenings here but my favourite event so far this year has been our Cultural & Diversity Showcase – Beyond Race.
An evening organised by students to embrace our commonalities and differences. An evening of singing, speeches, poetry, fashion, dancing, music and art. An evening that celebrated who we all are at APS.
In a world where for some the default position is isolation and division it was good to come together and celebrate
