The previous picture speaks a thousand words. Our outcomes for students remain consistently strong in 2024, as they have done for more than a decade. It was a very happy time at school when the Year 11s collected their examination grades. They were a lovely year group who had the opportunity to study from a range of 28 different courses and achieved stellar results. They add their mark to our school’s history of inclusive, high performance, comprehensive education. Headlines include:
- Almost 1 in every 2 grades awarded were top grades
- 93% of students passed English
- 90% of students passed Maths
- 87% of students passed both English & Maths
- 86% of students passed Science
- Every student achieved formal qualifications
We are exceptionally proud of every single one of our students and wish to congratulate them for their hard work and achievements. Our thanks to their families for their support and to all the APS staff for their expertise, challenge and care through the past 5 years.

We are once again thrilled and incredibly proud of the achievements of our students in this summer’s examinations. Well done to all students that joined our sixth form from 35 different secondary schools across North London. Our students have been successful in a range of academic and vocational courses, which has enabled them to secure University places.
As expected our students have delivered impressive results. It was a joyful time in school as grades were collected.
As a comprehensive sixth form that welcomes all students, including 30% who are classed as disadvantaged, we value student achievement at all levels. It may seem trite to distil all the students’ effort and work in to a few headlines, however it can help demonstrate success.
This year saw our students awarded:
Students with GCSE average grade of 7 or above |
All Sixth Form Students |
|---|---|
| 60% of top grades A*/A 87% of grades A*-B 43 students receiving 3 or more straight top grades Every Oxbridge candidate was successful in gaining a place |
35% of top grades A*/A 66% of grades A*-B 65% of vocational grades were a Distinction or Distinction+ 100% pass rate |
This success is also demonstrated in the individual student stories. The student who joined us as an unaccompanied child refugee speaking no English just 4 years ago off to study Engineering or his peer reading Medicine at Cambridge. It is shown through the student placed in temporary accommodation and moved frequently throughout the 18 months of her sixth form life who will be reading Pharmacology at UCL and another studying Veterinary Science at Bristol. This success is mirrored in the myriad of combinations other students have achieved in this wonderfully comprehensive sixth form. Each of our students and their individual journey is precious to us.
With such brilliant results we have more students accepting university offers in 2024 than ever before.
We wish them well in their future work and studies. They are true ambassadors for the APS values of hard work and resilience
Our Sixth Form students once again demonstrated their ability to secure places on demanding courses at competitive universities throughout the country. The school maintained its impressive record of sending students to Oxford and Cambridge with students reading a variety of courses including: Literature, Natural Sciences, Oriental Studies, Classics and Medicine. Every student who received an Oxbridge offer was successful.
Russel Group Universities proved very popular this year with destinations including Imperial, Warwick, Birmingham, York, Edinburgh, Leeds, Bath, UCL, Manchester, Bristol and Glasgow. The chosen studies are as varied as the students who studied with us last year and include History, Veterinary Science, Dentistry, Architecture, PPE, Chemistry, Economics and Physics. Other students travelled a different path choosing Linguistics, Aerodynamics, History of Art and Archaeology.
The class of 2024 secured a record number of University places this year and wherever they may be going on the next stage of their journey they take our good wishes with them.

Our sincere thanks to the three candidates who put themselves forward for the role of Parent Local Governor and to all parents and carers who voted in the election. We are pleased to congratulate Aviva Leeman who received the most number of votes. Aviva will now be appointed to the Alexandra Park School Local Governors’ Advisory Group (LGAG), pending the required checks. Aviva’s personal statement is included below.
I have two boys at APS – one with complex SEND. Both were welcomed equally; each now supported towards their unique interests and dreams.
Working at the intersection of culture and social innovation, I have significant experience in public arts, education and widening-participation; as well as in the disability-inclusion space as lived-experience expert and changemaker – currently as Civic Futures Fellow at City Hall.
I would bring a creative, asset-led approach to build on APS values and strengths in engaging the wider school community; ensuring that school – and therefore the future – is a place of belonging, possibility and achievement for all pupils.
Bring a picnic (BYO) and enjoy performances from our choirs, bands and orchestras. The concert will take place in the 6th form garden (weather permitting) where there are some benches (first-come-first-served) but we suggest you bring a blanket as benches are limited. If you require a bench for mobility reasons, please email us so we can reserve one for you. If it rains, the concert will take place in the hall.
